More female industry leaders take seats on AANA Board
More women are joining the board of the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA), highlighting the rise of female leaders in the industry.
A total of six board members for 2011/12 are women (up from three in 2008/09), including newly-elected Deputy Chair Inese Kingsmill of Telstra. Board members were elected at the AANA AGM, on Thursday 10th November.
“It’s fair to say we have moved beyond the era of ‘tokenism’ when it comes to female participation at the board level of our industry,” said Chairman Joe Talcott. These leaders represent some of Australia’s biggest national advertisers by media spend and stature. They clearly have the confidence of their organisations and will provide sound guidance to AANA in a challenging year ahead.
The AANA Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of AANA in the rapidly evolving advertising, marketing and media landscape.
Among retiring Board members were Mark Buckman (formerly of Commonwealth Bank, now Telstra) James Tait (Lion), Sarah Gibbons (Mars), Joanne Pollard (Ninemsn), and Peter Webster (Toyota).
“AANA thanks our Board members who are stepping down for their time and dedication over the years. We are fortunate to have had access to their passion and expertise and wish them all the best,” Mr Talcott said.
