Darren Woolley, Managing Director - Evalu8ing Pty Ltd

With more than 15 years advertising industry experience, Darren Woolley has developed brand and business communication strategies for a broad range of organisations. He held the position of Creative Director at J Walter Thompson and was President of the MADC for two consecutive terms. Darren is the founder of TrinityP3, a marketing management consulting company with a national network of more than 20 industry professionals that helps people to achieve commercial purpose through creative process. TrinityP3’s client base includes more than 40 of Australia’s top 100 advertisers.

Darren has been named in AdNews Power 50: Most Powerful People in Advertising since 2005 and is a regular contributor to AdNews, B&T, Marketing magazine, Marketing Matters and Procurement Professional.



 
David Thomason, General Manager Marketing (former) - Meat & Livestock Australia

David Thomason is General Manager Marketing at Meat & Livestock Australia, joining MLA in November 1998.

David has a background in packaged goods marketing, initially with Cottees Foods where he managed their major brands portfolio. With quality improvements, product development and effective promotional campaigns, he took Cottees to market leadership in the jams and cordials categories, and created entire new categories in the fruit snacks and coffee markets.

In 1988, David moved to George Weston Foods where his responsibilities included the marketing of their Westons Biscuits and Tip Top Bread divisions, particularly facing the challenge of hot bread shops. He also spent several years leading their biscuit and cake division.

His role in Meat & Livestock Australia is developing and implementing strategies to grow consumer demand for Australian beef and sheepmeat. Particular focus has been on the introduction of the Meat Standards Australia meat grading scheme, reinvigorating consumer demand for Lamb, identifying nutritional opportunities for red meat, and improving retail standards.

David has extensive experience in developing consumer communications, with campaigns that have won prestigious awards including:

  • London International Advertising Award Best TV commercial in 2002
  • The Advertising Federation of Australia’s Gold Pinnacle in 2004
  • Nine other AFA advertising effectiveness awards
  • AWARD Client of the Year in 2007
  • Bronze Lion at Cannes in 2008

David is an Inaugural Board Member of the Primary Industries Education Foundation, a member of the Advisory Board of the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute for Marketing Science, and a member of the Expert Advisory Panel on Commonwealth Government Advertising.





  Michael Harley, Group Executive Marketing, Innovation & International - National Foods Limited

Appointed in 2007, Mike has a distinguished track record in global marketing, business strategy and innovation. Prior to joining National Foods, Mike was based in Melbourne as Global Category Director for Fonterra Brands’ Cheese and Spreads business with operations in Australasia, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Europe. He has also held senior global marketing roles with Fonterra in New Zealand and a variety of strategic and operational marketing roles with Reckitt Benckiser plc (formerly Reckitt & Coleman) in Spain, France, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.







 
Ian Alwill, Director Group Marketing & Communications - Nestle Australia Limited

Ian Alwill has a background in marketing and advertising both in Australia and internationally.

Chairman of the AANA since February 2002, as well as Executive Director of Group Marketing & Communications at Nestle, he is responsible for the ‘consumer interface’ of the company and its brands, in all its operating divisions, with responsibility for market research and intelligence, advertising, media, packaging design and pre-press implementation, promotion, sponsorship and events, relationship marketing and the internet for Australia and New Zealand. He is also actively involved with Nestlé marketing and consumer communications issues globally.







  Joe Talcott, Group Marketing Director - News Limited

Mr. Talcott is responsible for building the brands and growing the customer base of the multiple media properties under the News Limited umbrella. In a fast-changing media environment he has made brand building a priority with more emphasis on building brand loyalty.

Joe Talcott was appointed Group Marketing Director at News in 2005 after a long career as Marketing Director at McDonald’s, working in the USA, Latin America, Asia and Australia.

Mr. Talcott has worked for marketers, agencies and media companies in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Mr. Talcott is Chairman of the Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) and President of the Newspaper Publishers Association (NPA). In addition, Joe serves as a Media & Marketing Advisor on the Global Poverty Project.




 

Mark Reinke, Executive General Manager Group Marketing - Suncorp Metway Limited

Mark has 25 years experience in business to consumer and business to business roles in Australia and the U.S, working across a wide range of markets including Banking, Insurance, Telecommunications, Technology, Manufacturing and Packaging.


He has held senior roles spanning across marketing, sales, operations, product management and business development functions.


His current role is Executive General Manager - Group Marketing for the Suncorp Group, incorporating brands such as AAMI, Suncorp, Vero, Asteron, Shannons, GIO and Just Car.



 



 

Peter Webster, Divisional Manager of Marketing - Toyota Motor Corporation

Peter oversees all marketing communication, strategy and advertising development. He joined Toyota in 1989 and has worked in various Sales and Marketing Management roles for both Toyota and Lexus.

Toyota has enjoyed success as the most popular car brand and remains one of the dominant advertisers and marketers in Australia.








 
Mark Green, Managing Director - Three Drunk Monkeys

After graduating with a Business Marketing/Economics degree Mark began his career as a client working for Coca-Cola as a Graduate Trainee. His transition to advertising started after finding a job by picking up the Yellow Pages and applying to the agencies in bold. DDB Melbourne was the beneficiary of this well thought out career plan.

Mark later went on to work for Clemenger Melbourne and Saatchi & Saatchi before starting Three Drunk Monkeys with Scott Nowell and Justin Drape in July 2006. Three Drunk Monkeys is more than just an advertising agency. In 2009 Three Drunk Monkeys co wrote and created the Andrew Denton produced series :30 Seconds for The Comedy Channel. And Mark has also chanced his arm in the Television arena having been credited as the Executive Producer of My Family Feast on SBS.

Whilst still new, Three Drunk Monkeys has already captured the imagination of the industry winning both AdNews and B&T Emerging Agency of The Year in 2007.

In the following two years Three Drunk Monkeys was nominated for National Advertising Agency of The Year in Australian Creative, B&T and AdNews. And campaigns for The Gruen Transfer, FOXTEL HD+ and BBC were credited as finalists for Australian Campaign of The Year.

Throughout his career Mark has worked on some of Australia’s most recognised brands and campaigns including RACV, NRMA, Toyota, Fox Sports, Rugby NSW, RTA, FOXTEL, Gillette, Singapore Airlines, Reckitt Benckiser, United Nations, Pepsi, SBS, Unwired, Ubank and Yahoo!7. In 2009 Mark was nominated by AdNews as one of the rising stars of the industry in an article showcasing 40 under 40.

Many of the campaigns Mark has worked on have been recognised both locally and internationally with over 30 Gold and Silver awards including seven Cannes Lions and six AFA Effectiveness Awards.

Mark was included in the 2009 Top 40 under 40, a list comprising the best and brightest from the advertising, marketing and digital industries.


 

Craig Galvin, Director - The White Agency

Craig co-founded the white agency in 2003, quickly establishing it as one of Australia’s preeminent interactive agencies. In the six years since launch white has won numerous creative and business accolades built on a foundation of innovation and world class digital work, working with some of Australia’s largest and most successful brands.

Craig’s experience across publisher and agency-side, and subsequent exposure to a diverse range of organisations’ marketing objectives, provides a unique insight into the capabilities of digital in meeting a client’s business challenges and ensures digital becomes the gateway between business, marketing, customers and prospects.

Prior to white, Craig’s experience has been extensive and he is one of the longest serving internet specialists in Australia. Beginning at Ozemail in 1996, Craig was promoting the positive changes the internet could have for marketers long before companies had even dipped their toes into the water. From Ozemail Craig moved to Yahoo! where he was one of the first in the local team for the global internet success story, leading the sales team with passion and creating successful strategies for marketers.

 

Craig’s experience includes:

Malcolm Rankin, Chairman - Aprais

Based in Sydney, Malcolm is the Chairman of both Aprais Australia Ply and APRAIS Asia Pacific Pty. One of the original partners in APRAIS, he has used his extensive knowledge and experience of client/agency relationships to drive equitable solutions for APRAIS clients such as Nestle, HSBC and Sony.

He is a former board member of Grey Australia and former partner in two domestic Australian advertising agencies. Malcolm loves wine (growing but more so drinking), is a golfing tragic (really tragic) and loves anything to do with animals (not reptiles though). Happily married with three now adult boys, he's also been heavily involved with charitable boards over many years.
