About the Winner

Bob Miller,

Former GM of Marketing for Toyota

During his tenure as General Manager, Marketing, Toyota Australia achieved outright market leadership. Most Australians are familiar with Bob’s 26-year-running Toyota theme “Oh, What a Feeling!”, the whacky Camry Chicken and other memorably focused ad campaigns. More recently, Bob ran Sydney talk radio station 2UE for a year and a half. The station featured legendary personality John Laws…an excellent instructor in working with stars.

As three times Past-President of AANA (Association of Australian National Advertisers), during which tenure he led the AANA move to rid the Australian advertising industry of its illegal commitment to ad agencies accreditation by the media and the stifling institution of fixed margins and commissions, the marketing industry has recognised Bob Miller’s service many times. Marketing magazine declared Bob its inaugural “Marketer of the Decade” in 1994.  Bob is a Life Member of AMI and became one of its foundation Certified Practising Marketers.

Since teaching has become a professional interest, Bob has in recent years qualified through Macquarie’s Centre for Professional development for a Certificate in Higher Education, then qualified for a Diploma in Higher Ed., progressing to a Masters in Higher Ed. One way or another, Bob is committed to professionalism in communication
